Calibre Zen Release

Calibre Zen 0.2: Move From calibre in One Click

Calibre Zen 0.2.0 brings your calibre settings, library and plugins over in one click, and adds updates from inside the app, a smaller Edit metadata window and a Flatpak.

Calibre Zen is a modern interface for calibre’s ebook library manager. It installs alongside calibre and works with your existing libraries, settings and plugins. Version 0.2.0 is out, built on calibre 9.15, and it makes switching from calibre a one-click job.

Bring your calibre settings with you

The welcome wizard now opens on a setup page with three choices:

Your calibre stays exactly as it was. The wizard copies once: changes you make in calibre later stay in calibre. When you run it again and replace your settings, a backup of the current ones is made first.

A few things are left behind on purpose. Look and feel settings don’t come over, because a font or icon size from calibre breaks the new look in small ways everywhere. Your language is the one exception. Both apps can open the same library, but use it in one app at a time.

Also in 0.2.0

Calibre Zen is free and open source, for Windows, macOS and Linux.
