Known limitations

The rough edges in this version of calibre-zen, and what to do about each one. Most have a simple workaround, and all are on the list to fix.

These are the rough edges I know about in version 0.1.0. Most have a workaround, and all are on the list to fix. If you run into something else, the Troubleshoot page has the common fixes and the places to ask for help, on GitHub or Reddit.

  • Some menus and drop-downs do not show the selected item clearly. In a few places inside calibre the highlighted row does not pick up the accent colour, so the selected text is hard to read. I am fixing them one by one.
  • Plugins that change the look may not work. A plugin that sets its own fonts or colour scheme fights with calibre-zen’s theme. One of them wins, and it may not be the one you want.
  • Only a handful of plugins have been tested. DeDRM, FanFicFare, Export to Markdown and Quality Check work. Other plugins most likely work too, since calibre-zen does not change how plugins run. They have just not been tried.
  • The app icon can look slightly off on macOS and Windows. In some spots, like the Dock, the taskbar or the Start menu, it renders a little too large or too small. Each system wants its own set of sizes and formats, and I am still working through them.
