Roadmap

What I want to build next, from a new look for the reader to custom themes, and how you help decide the order on Reddit.

The first goal was the architecture, and it is in place. What comes next is not decided yet. With the foundation done, I feel confident building Zen for the next decade, with all kinds of updates and speed-ups along the way.

You get a say. Join r/CalibreZen and upvote what matters to you. The more votes an idea gets, the sooner it moves up the list.

  1. A new look for the built-in reader.
  2. An updated metadata editor.
  3. More visual consistency. The parts of the window that still look like stock calibre.
  4. Faster in the places that feel slow.
  5. Custom themes. Bring your own colours.
  6. Simpler everyday flows. Converting a book or fixing its metadata should take a click or two.
  7. First-class plugins. Maybe a better way to make plugins feel like part of the app.
  8. A declarative engine. Maybe a way to write an extension in YAML and try it right away.

Have an idea that is not here? Open an issue or post it on Reddit.

Adios, and thank you for such support, wonderful people!
